      <image:caption>Ida Lennestål is a yoga and movement facilitator based in mid-coast Maine. Her work is centered around a simple idea: beneath the noise and pace of modern life, there is a steady center within us. Through movement, breath, and stillness, we can return to that place. She teaches practices that support the nervous system and help people feel more at home in their bodies. Her background includes over 20 years of being a practitioner of yoga, 500+ hours of yoga training, meditation, and hypopressive breathing techniques, and ongoing studies in Pilates. She hails from the north of Sweden, where the reindeer roam, but has called home places as far flung as Berlin and the UK, where she studied anthropology and media at Goldsmiths University of London. She currently holds the position as Director of Mindfulness at Seguinland Institute in Georgetown Maine. She is raising three fierce daughters and enjoys life - one sauna &amp; cold-plunge at a time.       <image:title>Classes - Intro to Hypopressives</image:title>
      <image:caption>Hypopressive is a compound term derived from Greek and Latin roots meaning “low pressure“.   ℎ : A Greek prefix that means "under," "below," or "less than normal". : Derived from the Latin verb premere, meaning "to press".  Therefore, hypopressive refers to breathing techniques and exercises that decrease pressure in the abdominal and pelvic cavities. This is in contrast to traditional exercises like crunches, which are hyperpressive, meaning they increase internal pressure.  Hypopressives are a training system focusing on the breath, alignment of the body and stretching of the fascia. We incorporate apnea (if applicable), different static postures, arm movements and sometimes fascia melting techniques. These exersices are great for people postpartum who are looking for a ways to reintegrate with their core, abdominals and pelvic floor in a non-pressure way. Hypopressive exercises offer benefits including improved core strength and awareness, better posture, retrained breathing patterns and strengthened pelvic floor muscles.
